Duncan Wins Inaugural Lynd Ward Prize

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

AdHouse Books is very excited to announce that Duncan the Wonder Dog has won the Inaugural Lynd Ward Graphic Novel Prize.

About the award: Sponsored by Penn State University Libraries and administered by the Pennsylvania Center for the Book, an affiliate of the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress, the Lynd Ward Graphic Novel Prize will be presented annually to the best graphic novel, fiction or non-fiction, published in the previous calendar year by a living U.S. citizen or resident.

Publisher Chris Pitzer was almost speechless when told of the news. He then realized that he should say something, so… “I am VERY excited for Adam Hines. The amount of work that he has put into Duncan shows and is admirable. The second printings of the book should be hitting shops this month. I’m sure that with this announcement they will be soon be gone as well.”

When asked for comment, the creator Adam Hines said, “I’m pleased and flattered that the jurors liked the book as much as they did. And I think it’s a nice bit of continuity that the first Lynd Ward Prize is going to the work of another native Chicagoan.”
