I’m not sure how many “locals” read this blog, but I wanted to point out an event happening this coming Monday (4/30) that I’m supporting, and I hope you do as well…

ArtMission:  AN ART AUCTION BENEFIT & PARTY FOR KERRY TALBOTT

Kerry and I have crossed paths over the years locally and at various comic shows. His work has always been fun, entertaining and exciting.

Kerry was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 2010. While it looks promising that his medical treatment has knocked it out, it’s also left him with some pesky (read: gargantuan) bills.

Here are some additional stories about Kerry and the event.

Patrick Godfrey of Velocity Comics has teamed with Ghostprint Gallery to create this benefit and party.  I’ve donated various AdHouse rarities and a piece of original Chris Pitzer art. I plan to attend, and hope you can as well.

It’s that time of year. For the best North American show dedicated to comics… TCAF!

(SPX and Brooklyn are close runner-ups, but SPX has the admission fee they have to do, and Brooklyn is close, but has a slightly different vibe.)

Toronto May 5 – 6 FREE ADMISSION!

This year will be a little different in year’s past as AdHouse head honcho Chris “prettyboy” Pitzer won’t be able to make the trip to the Great White North. But that doesn’t mean AdHouse won’t be there. In his place we’ll have Tom “patunkin” Scioli working the AdHouse table.

Tom will be pushing his freshly released AMERICAN BARBARIAN as well, so be sure to swing by and get him to do one of his everlovin’ drawings within. And like any other “far away” convention, be sure to get there early for best selection.

But Tom’s not the only AdHouse pal in attendance at TCAF! At their respective tables you’ll find:

• Ethan ( POPE HATS ) Rilly. Congrats to Ethan on his Doug Wright nomination!

• Jesse ( EVEN THE GIANTS ) Jacobs. Jesse’s new book will be coming out for Koyama Press!

So, I hope everyone who visits this great show will have a swell time. Sooo many great comics and creators!

Wanted to let you all know that I have just placed a few rare and out-of-print AdHouse publications & etc. on ebay.

The books are all “file” copies. (Copies I had in a pile to reach for in case I had a question.)

Why part with them now? Well, events have conspired to tell me that it is time to let them go. I won’t go into details, but a surprise bill and a few changes made me realize I could part with some things.

(Update: Hey all… sorry if my post was a bit mysterious. I’m just never sure how much detail to put out there. Basically, my wife’s dog had an unexpected emergency surgery that cost a fair amount. (gulp) And AdHouse “central” will be moving in the coming months, so I thought it might be time to part with the “extra” duplicates. All is good, and thanks for the thoughts!)

Most items are starting at their retail price, so there are some gems to be had. (PR1!)

And if there are AdHouse items you want and don’t see… stay tuned as I’ll be going through the “collection” and parting with other things in the coming weeks.
