Jeff thinks he is on his way to the Job Centre to pick up his monthly benefit payment when in fact he is about to embark on a quest of Ulyssean proportions. As Jeff slashes and punches his way through the red tape and bureaucracy of the Job Centre’s dungeon of terror, he approaches the terrifying Minotaur whom he must defeat to pick up his next meal ticket. Little does he know that the object of his epic quest is just a bad tempered HR manager with a paper-load the size of a Kraken and a mood to match it.

Can he succeed in an otherwise hopeless situation? Will he retrieve the skull of the half man half beast from the dungeon of terror and get his beloved JSA cheque? There’s only one way to find out…

Jack Teagle comes from a town where more than 250 people applied for a single job at ‘pound land’. Jack decided to become an illustrator instead. Jack graduated with an illutration degree from the university of Plymouth in 2009 and now works as an illustrator, comic artist and painter.

Nobrow 17 x 23 Series © 2010 is a new graphic short story project designed to help talented young graphic novelists tell their stories in a manageable and economic format. the hope is that, while the series encourages artists to write one off stories, 17×23 can act as a springboard for more ambitious projects.
